A FEW THINGS I CARE ABOUT

The people of Helena are my priority.

I am running for election because I want to advocate on behalf of the needs, concerns, and future of our community. I am running on a platform of issues I believe in: workers’ rights, fairness for all Montanans, Medicaid & Healthcare, Reproductive Freedom, Affordable Housing, Public Schools, Property Taxes, Climate/Environment and Public Lands. This is, by no means, an exhaustive list of important issues for me -- if there is an issue you care about that you don't see here, reach out to me! I'd love to chat about it.

  • Montana workers deserve the right to unionize without fear of retaliation by their employer. I will vote against any legislation that tries to take that away or that tries to turn Montana into a Right to Work state. I will also advocate for a higher minimum wage that fairly correlates with inflation and the cost of living.

  • Every Montanan deserves the right to be and love whomever they want. There are too many state legislators who spend their time in our bedrooms, our bathrooms, and our doctor’s offices instead of improving the lives of every Montanan through access to healthcare, affordable housing, adequately-funded education, and a livable wage.

  • Healthcare is a human right. Medicaid Expansion is up for renewal in the 2025 legislative session and it is imperative that we protect health insurance for hundreds of thousands of Montanas including tens of thousands of kids. I was working in the Montana Legislature when Medicaid Expansion was passed in 2019 – I know the hard work, patience, and compromise it takes to pass this type of legislation.

  • I’m committed to defending Montanans’ fundamental right to privacy in health care decisions as guaranteed by our state constitution. I firmly support access to abortion and will vehemently oppose any legislative attempts to restrict or limit this access. I strongly support Constitutional Initiative 128, which would secure Montanans’ reproductive rights, including the express right to an abortion, in the state constitution.

  • It’s no secret that our community is experiencing a housing crisis and that the homeless population of Helena has skyrocketed in recent years. The legislature has the ability to pass legislation that creates a workforce housing tax credit to incentivize affordable housing developments (and they did, in fact, try last session). I will make it a priority in the legislature to find solutions for more affordable housing and will work with our local government here in Helena to discuss local ways of housing all our neighbors.

  • I am the product of Helena’s public schools and I couldn’t be more proud to have graduated from this school district. Public education is the great equalizer and allows every child the chance to prosper. I oppose using taxpayer money to fund private and religious charter schools which threatens the viability of our already struggling school districts. I also support public school teachers, and will work closely with them to ensure fair pay, fair benefits, safe working conditions, and pride in their essential work.

  • The most effective way the state can lower taxes on residential property is by rebalancing the property tax system completely. We should begin by making sure corporations and businesses pay a fairer share of the property tax burden. One way to do this would be to provide a "homestead exemption" for individual property owners. This would exempt some part of the homeowner’s market value from taxation, lowering the residential property tax burden for homeowners and increasing the costs that corporations and businesses have to pay.

  • The reality of the climate crisis is not up for debate and we must do everything we can to ensure a livable world for future generations. As a fellow young person, I was proud to watch the historic Held v. Montana trial and I commend those young Montanans for taking their futures within their own hands. This lawsuit holds the State of Montana accountable to our Constitution’s guaranteed right of a “clean and healthful environment.”

  • Access to Montana’s abundant public land is part of my livelihood and one of the reasons we all choose to live here in Helena. I strongly oppose any effort to limit access, to privatize or sell public lands, or to transfer management of federal public lands to states.
